Residents of Lake Rosalind have been disturbed by raucous summer cottagers who speed through the area, and one resident has requested speed bumps be installed.
"The laying of heavy rope or pipe during the spring/summer/fall time would be of tremendous help in curbing the speed of all," the resident said in a letter to the Brockton Police Services Board.
The letter went on to say that the cottagers are loud starting Thursday nights and throughout the weekend, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
"The warmer weather brings out the speeders and the youth around the lake," he said.
"When a party is in full swing, you can hear the drivers leaving with a squeal of tires and arriving back with a squeal," the resident wrote.
He added that the drivers are speeding, and he's concerned that they may also be drinking.
But members of the board said that it may be just hearsay.
"I'm not sure if what they're doing is actually against the law," Sergeant Carl Cameron said at the April PSB meeting, and added that it would cost thousands to send an officer to the neighbourhood to "sit and wait."
"With a black Crown (Victoria) sitting in an affluent neighbourhood - it's not going to take people long to figure out it's an officer," Cameron said.
Charlie Reidl, chair of the PSB said that they might be able to charge the partiers under the excessive noise bylaw.
"One or two noise warnings would let them know that they are being monitored and would probably curb future incidents," the letter to the board said.
Residents of Lake Rosalind would like to see some action, according to the letter, and would like the speeding problem to be addressed before the summer holiday season begins.
"It is not acceptable for the majority who respect the safety of all to have to put up with evening and weekend speeders who don't respect rights or laws," the resident wrote.
